Mathematics Education for (Exceptionally) Gifted Students in Grades 5–8

The program is designed for mathematics teachers and prospective educators working with exceptionally gifted students in grades 5–8. Participants will gain knowledge about the relationship between giftedness and achievement, effective mathematics teaching strategies, and advanced problem-solving and inquiry-based methods. They will learn to differentiate tasks and design creative instructional plans. In practical workshops, various methodological and technological tools for gifted students will be tested, enabling achievement analysis, progress monitoring, and the implementation of individualized learning interventions. The program is based on the latest educational research and talent development insights, contributing to the enhancement of teachers’ competencies, the improvement of instructional quality, and the strengthening of the country’s intellectual and economic potential.

In this training you will learn:
  • To become familiar with the main internationally recognized models of giftedness and the characteristics, personality development, learning needs, and educational principles of exceptionally gifted mathematics students;
  • To identify students’ mathematical giftedness, achievement potential, and the factors influencing its realization;
  • To apply the updated general mathematics curriculum content for teaching exceptionally gifted students;
  • To design differentiated and individualized mathematics instruction for gifted learners;
  • To master new teaching strategies, forms, methods, learning environment adaptations, and networking to transform students’ potential into achievement;
  • To gain practical experience in assessing student achievement and analyzing progress, creating an original and motivating learning system;
  • To apply the acquired knowledge and skills in practice to actively teach exceptionally gifted mathematics students.
